Uzbekistan has borders with Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. It has the largest population among all the Central Asian countries, and a heritage of the Silk Road. Mostly midlatitude desert, long, hot summers, mild winters; semiarid grassland in east. Uzbekistan has eased its visa requirements and as of March 2019 citizens of 65 countries can visit the country without having to get a visa. These include the CIS countries whose citizens generally can stay for 90 days, and nationals of most first world countries (notably U.S. citizens have to obtain a visa for anything else than transit) and some others that can stay for 30 days.
